Venue Spotlight: The Grounds
The Grounds is not only the go-to place for amazing food, atmosphere and occasional temporary installations, but it also holds breathtaking event spaces which makes weddings unique, elegant and memorable.
It has 2 locations - The Grounds of Alexandria, and in South Eveleigh.
Here are 4 main spaces at The Grounds which I know will create the WOW experience for yourself, and your guests.
The Eveleigh
This space is located within the old locomotive workshops at South Eveleigh (Redfern), near Romeo’s Food Hall IGA. From outside, the space is separated by tall velvet green curtains. However, from when you enter the Eveleigh space, there is a sense of opulence and elegance from the brass colour tones, to the high ceiling chandeliers, to the vintage private bar and grand staircase at the other side of the space.
Above the bar is the bridal room (suite) for the bridal party, kept private by another set of tall green curtains. The open balcony can be used as a bridal entrance, but can also be used for a band or string ensemble to perform during cocktail and canapes hour.
Address: The Grounds (The Eveleigh). Bay 3, 2 Locomotive Street, Eveleigh.
Space holds: 200-340 (seated), 250-600 (cocktail).

Linseed House
Linseed House is the largest space at the Grounds of Alexandria, and has art-deco elegant architecture, making this space a very popular location for weddings. There are exposed brick walls, high ceilings with crystal chandeliers, and large arched windows, which gives a sense of exquisiteness. This space can also have added fairy lights decorations to give a more fairytale feel.
There is also a bridal suite upstairs (above the bar), with small balconies overlooking the Linseed House (indoors), so that the bridal party can royally wave from above. The balconies can also be used for DJ, bands or string ensembles.
Address: The Grounds of Alexandria. 7A/2 Huntley Street, Alexandria.
Space holds: 200-380 (seated), 250-600 (cocktail).

The Garden
As the name of the space says for itself, The Garden space contains a lot of greenery and foliage throughout the space, making this space perfect as a garden wedding. As there are also permanent fairy lights set up within the space, a lot of additional decorations is not required.
The Garden space contains not only the Garden (mainly for reception), but also Patio and Arbour. The Arbour can be mainly used for ceremonies, with the fountain as a beautiful backdrop; it can also be further decorated with hanging chandeliers and drapes. If you are having an intimate reception, you can even have the Arbour as a sit-down area, and the Garden as the dancefloor! The Patio space provides an extra area with limitless options that can be located there, including a photo booth, live stations, and extra dancefloor.
Address: The Grounds of Alexandria. 7A/2 Huntley Street, Alexandria.
Space holds: 110-180 (seated), 150-380 (cocktail).

The Atrium
The Atrium may be the only space at the Grounds where guests can only enter through its own private laneway, giving an exclusive atmosphere. This space is most notable for its hanging foliage, potted plants and permanent festoon lights throughout the main area, providing more of an intimate feel.
Although this is smaller than the other spaces, having a wedding reception inside the Atrium (including photo booth) with minimal extra decorations makes this area elegant, yet rustic and close to nature.
Address: The Grounds of Alexandria. 7A/2 Huntley Street, Alexandria.
Space holds: 80-110 (seated), 80-180 (cocktail).
These elegant and unique spaces make the Grounds one of my recommended venues to celebrate your special day. Being situated close to Sydney CBD, and having so many food serving opportunities and possibilities, can create a WOW experience for everyone (including yourself)!
